About the Coliseum:
In its heyday, the Coliseum was the place to be. It had a massive dance floor, a state-of-the-art sound system, and a beautiful art deco design. The Coliseum was also home to a number of popular bands, including the Royal Americans and the Florida Orchestra.
However, the Coliseum’s fortunes began to decline in the 1960s. The rise of television and suburbanization led to a decline in attendance at dance halls. The Coliseum closed its doors in 1972.
The Coliseum remained vacant for several years, but it was eventually renovated and reopened in the 1990s. Today, it is a popular venue for weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions.
The Coliseum is a reminder of St. Petersburg’s rich history. It is a place where people have come together to celebrate, to dance, and to make memories. The Coliseum is a true gem of the city, and it is sure to be around for many years to come.
